An Aurora man faces six felony counts related to alleged possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Dustin J. Rumple, 28, was taken into custody of Kane County jail June 23 and remained in custody pending a court hearing on July 8, authorities said.
His arrest comes after a months-long investigation by the Aurora Police Department.
Police said in a news release they first received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Data System regarding “suspected possession of child sexual abuse material,” according to a police release.
Police say investigators executed several search warrants for online accounts which helped identify Rumple as a suspect.
The police executed a search warrant on June 23 at Rumple’s residence on Taylor Avenue. Police say a forensic examination of electronic devices recovered numerous files depicting child sexual abuse material, according to the release.
Chief Matt Thomas said the department will continue working with law enforcement partners to “hold offenders accountable and safeguard our community.”
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the release. Police are encouraging anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the police at 630-256-5500.
