PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WPEC) — A Michigan doctor faces extradition after a Port St. Lucie detective caught him trying to arrange sex with a fictitious 5-year-old, according to authorities.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said an undercover detective began an investigation in June when the suspect, Dr. William J. Murdoch, of Michigan, began chatting online with a “Mom” who was really a detective.

Murdoch allegedly pursued a relationship with the “mom” because he wanted to see if she’d allow her fictitious 5-year-old to have sexual relations with him.
During the investigation, detectives said Murdoch sent “stomach-churning” messages that went into detail about what he wanted to do to the 5-year-old.

A forensic investigation of Murdoch’s iCloud and messaging account revealed disturbing dark web searches, including conversations of conception, full-term abortions, and intentional drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects.
PSLPD said a warrant was immediately issued for his arrest for soliciting a parent to consent to sexual conduct involving a child.
Murdoch was later apprehended by U.S. Marshals and will be extradited to the state of Florida.
