WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — A Chatsworth man has been arrested after investigators say he tried to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old for sexual purposes.
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office says its Special Victims Unit wrapped up the operation Thursday.
Investigators arrested Shawn Ridner and charged him with sexual exploitation of children under Georgia law.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation centered on Ridner reportedly trying to meet a 14-year-old juvenile for indecent purposes.
Authorities did not release additional details about how the operation unfolded.
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office says its recently created Special Victims Unit has already carried out multiple investigations targeting people accused of exploiting children.
Sheriff Darren Pierce said the agency plans to continue those efforts.
“We will find you, and you will be held accountable,” Pierce said. “We will not allow innocent and vulnerable citizens of this county to be victimized.”
