Twenty-five registered sex offenders and sexual predators were arrested during a three-day compliance operation in Alachua County aimed at enforcing Florida’s registration laws.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced on July 7 that Operation Get ‘Em Gator targeted 80 registered offenders and predators living in the county.

Investigators said they conducted verification interviews with all 80 registrants and arrested 16 sexual offenders and nine sexual predators for alleged registry-related violations.

FDLE’s Missing Persons and Offender Enforcement Division, Jacksonville Regional Operations Center and Gainesville Field Office partnered with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office to verify compliance with state registration requirements.

According to FDLE, analysts with the agency’s Offender Enforcement and Apprehension Unit conducted investigative reviews before the operation, helping identify unreported or incorrect registration information before officers made contact with registrants.
