MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Virginia man was arrested on child exploitation charges after a Mississippi mother reported concerns involving her daughter to police.
The Horn Lake Police Department shared a report by the Bristol, Virginia Police Department on the arrest of William Tollie, who has been charged with felony possession of child pornography, felony solicitation of a child at least 15 but less than 18 years of age, and felony use of a computer to commit certain sex offenses.
“Another child predator charged after Horn Lake Police Department Investigators collaborated with Bristol (VA) Police Department Investigators,” Horn Lake PD posted to their Facebook page. “No distance is too far to protect our most vulnerable. Great work to both investigative teams!”
According to Bristol Police, they were contacted by Horn Lake detectives on June 15, after a mother filed a report about her concerns regarding her 15-year-old daughter.
“During the investigation, detectives determined that the juvenile had been communicating through the Discord application with a 29-year-old male from Bristol, Virginia,” Bristol PD posted to their Facebook page. “Based on information developed during the investigation, detectives with the Bristol Virginia Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence to seize electronic recording and storage devices belonging to or recently used by the suspect.”
That same day, Bristol detectives executed the warrant, police said; subsequent warrants were obtained for Tollie’s electronic data from two different desktop computers and his cell phone, including text messages, pictures, phone records, and Discord communications.
Police said that investigators found over 8,000 images of child pornography.
Police said that the investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be filed.
