Intel and Fortinet have announced a strategic collaboration to develop Fortinet’s next-generation Security Processor 6 (SP6), expanding a long-standing relationship aimed at advancing cybersecurity technology while strengthening the resilience of the global semiconductor supply chain.

The collaboration brings together Fortinet’s expertise in purpose-built security processors with Intel’s semiconductor design, packaging and manufacturing capabilities. The companies said the initiative is intended to accelerate development of Fortinet’s latest application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) while increasing supply chain diversity and manufacturing resilience.

As organizations continue facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, security infrastructure providers are placing greater emphasis on specialized hardware capable of delivering higher performance and greater efficiency. The collaboration reflects broader industry efforts to combine custom silicon with advanced manufacturing technologies to support evolving cybersecurity demands.

Under the agreement, Intel will contribute semiconductor design expertise, advanced packaging technologies and manufacturing capabilities to support development of the Security Processor 6. The companies expect the next-generation processor to provide the performance needed to support increasingly complex cybersecurity services while helping organizations address growing security requirements.
