(WPTA) – A local organization is offering free child safety devices and education.
Children First Center says families in LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties will now be able to request cabinet locks, safety latches, safety gates, smoke alarms, Pack ‘n Plays, car seats, as well as other items based on individual needs and availability.
Families who request Pack ‘n Plays will be required to participate in a safe sleep education session and receive instructions for proper assembly and use.
Families who request car seats will be required to participate in a child passenger safety education session and have their car seat professionally installed.
The organization says unintentional injuries remain one of the leading causes of injury in children, but most can be prevented with safety devices and education.
According to the organization, the offer was made possible by partnering with Crossroads United Way.
“Every child deserves a safe home to grow up in, and every parent deserves access to the resources that make that possible,” said Bill Purcell, President/CEO of Crossroads United Way.
