GLEN JEAN, WV (WVNS) – Scouting remains a time-honored tradition in America. But that doesn’t mean organizers are not keeping an eye on the future.
Troop leaders discuss importance of scout leadership
When you hear “scouting” you may think of hiking, knot tying, or fire building. These scouts have stepped into the future, working earn their A.I. and Cybersecurity merit badges. From intense rounds of Cyberjeopardy to wifi security programs, leaders with this exhibit have helped scouts brush up on every aspect of digital knowledge. It is all part of one of Jamboree’s newest and most modern exhibits.
“It’s around you all the time,” said merit badge team lead, Robert Caruso. “These are our tools to see what’s going on, what to be aware of and look for, and different ways to use this technology.”
Exhibit leaders said these initiatives will help prepare scouts for a future in an increasingly digital world. They said these skills will compliment traditional scout values and will help prepare participants for a variety of situations later in life.
