A cybersecurity incident involving technology tied to part of South St. Paul’s water utility system did not affect the city’s drinking water or operation of its wastewater services, the city said Monday in a Facebook post.
The city said it identified the incident early Monday and, while it affected certain automated controls, the city was able to implement established contingency operations. The city’s drinking water remained safe and the public works staff were able to maintain normal water and wastewater operations.
There is no action required from residents, the city said in the Facebook post.
Along with working with technology partners, the city is coordinating with state and federal agencies while staff continues to monitor the system and restore normal automated operations and service.
