A 55-year-old Glen Carbon man was charged July 28 with indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor, both Class 3 felonies; and solicitation to meet a child and grooming, both Class 4 felonies.
The Glen Carbon Police Department presented the case to prosecutors.
According to court documents, on July 27 the man solicited someone he believed was a 15-year-old boy for sex; traveled to meet the person he believed was a 15-year-old boy; used an electronic device to arrange the meeting at the corner of Cougar Drive and Northbay Court in Glen Carbon; and used an electronic device to “seduce, solicit, lure or entice” the person he believed was a 15-year-old boy.

The video, posted on the group’s Facebook page, generated a great deal of interest and prompted the Glen Carbon Police Department to post a notice July 27 on its Facebook page confirming that someone had been taken into custody and was under investigation.
The man was ordered held in jail.
According to a petition to deny pretrial release filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, Glen Carbon police responded to a report of an individual attempting to meet someone he believed was a child for sex.
The man was taken into custody and a search warrant was obtained for his phone.
The adult who conducted the sting also provided copies of the messages.
This individual has only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
