WALNUT CREEK – Authorities on Wednesday announced the arrests of five men on suspicion of traveling to Walnut Creek to meet a child for sex.
The arrests stemmed from a multi-agency operation focusing on adults who use social media to target children for sexual exploitation, the Walnut Creek Police Department said in a news release.
The suspects were identified as a 67-year-old Walnut Creek man, a 42-year-old man visiting from Germany, a 36-year-old Marin County man, a 32-year-old Concord man and a 29-year-old Concord man.
They were arrested on suspicion of crimes including attempted lewd acts with a minor, contacting a minor to commit a sex offense and arranging to meet a minor for sex, police said.
The Walnut Creek man was also arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, police said.
Police did not disclose any other details about the operation, including when it took place.
