Tom McKay, who has been writing a cybersecurity newsletter for education company Pluralsight, was among the layoffs.
He joined the company just more than a year ago.
McKay previously was a senior reporter at Morning Brew, helping it launch IT Brew. He also worked at Gizmodo, where he covered the intersection of tech, politics, and online extremism, and as a reporter on Mic’s politics desk.
He is a graduate of the New College of Florida.
