Registered sex offender accused of child molestation in Long County
LONG COUNTY, Ga. —

A Long County man who has been on Georgia’s sex offender registry for 15 years is accused of child molestation, authorities said.
Daylan Scott Nekula, 40, was arrested following an investigation by the Long County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. He is charged with aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy.
Complaint prompted investigation
The sheriff’s office said it received a complaint Monday, July 27, involving allegations of child molestation. Investigators immediately opened a case, which led to Nekula’s arrest.
Authorities have not released details about the allegations or the alleged victim. Bond information and a date for Nekula’s next court appearance were not immediately available.
Washington state conviction
Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry lists his last known residence on Obey Lane in Glennville, in Long County.
According to the registry, Nekula was convicted Nov. 4, 2009, in Washington state of one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. He registered as a sex offender in Georgia on Feb. 2, 2011.
