An arcade sex predator, a paedophile police officer and a violent domestic abuser were among the most serious Isle of Wight court cases heard in July 2026.
Throughout the month, the courts dealt with offenders who targeted children, threatened former partners with weapons, and ignored sexual harm prevention measures.
Below is a round-up of five standout cases heard in July 2026.
Aaron Hamilton

Aaron Hamilton, 37, of Nutsey Lane, Totton, formerly of Pyle Street, Newport, has been jailed for four years and one month after sexually assaulting three boys while working as an arcade attendant at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park.
Hamilton gave the children 2p coins and free turns on amusement machines before inappropriately touching them.
Between April 5 and 8 last year, he touched a six-year-old beneath their clothing.
On May 25, he touched two other boys, aged seven and eight, on their bottoms and penises over clothing.
He also admitted to making indecent images of children, including 210 category A images, and breaching notification requirements by failing to disclose two usernames.
Hamilton, who had previous convictions for child-image offences and a sexual act in a public toilet, was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
David Nutton

David Phillip Nutton, 60, of St Stephen, St Austell, but formally of the Isle of Wight, has been jailed for ten years for historic child sex offences.
The former Hampshire Constabulary police officer was convicted by a jury of seven counts of indecent assault on a child under 14, following a trial which concluded in May.
The offences, involving two victims — one aged eight at the time — took place between December 1988 and December 2001 on the Island whilst he was a police officer based at Ryde Police Station.
Nutton, who denied the charges, was remanded in custody after the verdicts.
At Portsmouth Crown Court, Judge David Melville imposed seven prison terms, which resulted in a total sentence of ten years.
Nutton had joined Hampshire Constabulary in 1998 and was previously jailed in 2004 for indecently assaulting a boy.
Lucas Richards

Lucas Richards, 19, of Eddington Road, Nettlestone, was given an 18-month community order after admitting sexual offences involving what he believed was a 13-year-old girl on Snapchat.
Richards, who was 17 at the time, posed as a 14-year-old boy and sent sexual messages, an explicit image, and a video of himself committing a lewd act.
He also asked the purported girl to send photographs, including one in a swimsuit.
An undercover police officer operated the account he was sending to.
Richards admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to view sexual imagery, and five counts of making indecent photographs of a child.
Officers later found indecent images across categories A, B and C on his devices.
The order includes 15 rehabilitation days and 80 hours’ unpaid work, alongside five-year notification requirements and a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
Reece Judge

Reece Judge, 25, of Raleigh Street, Nottingham, formerly of Collards Close, Freshwater, was jailed for ten months and 15 days after threatening the mother of his two children with a knife.
Judge admitted threatening a person with a bladed article, common assault and criminal damage following an incident in Freshwater on March 31 last year.
He picked up a serrated steak knife and pursued his ex-girlfriend, pushed her down the side of a bed and punched her.
He also smashed her phone.
Judge had initially denied the bladed-article offence and was due to stand trial but later changed his plea.
He was ordered to pay £412 and made subject to a restraining order protecting the victim.
Two months earlier, Judge had been jailed for 24 months for his part in an unprovoked attack on a student at Newport Bus Station in 2023.
Paul Norman

Paul Norman, 67, of The Rogers, Shanklin, was jailed for four months after breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by failing to declare two devices to police.
The order prohibited him from using internet-enabled devices unless first reported to the force’s Public Protection Unit.
Norman, who is serving time at HMP Isle of Wight, admitted the breach in January after officers found him concealing a phone in his dressing gown pocket shortly after his release from prison.
Two further unregistered devices were also discovered.
It was Norman’s third breach of the order, having previously been jailed for two years in December 2024 for similar offending, including downloading Snapchat and deleting chat histories.
He was originally jailed for three years in 2006 for nine child sex offences.
Recorder Jaron Crooknorth described the latest breach as deliberate and serious, and ordered the phones to be forfeited and destroyed.
