BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Cybercrime Investigation Unit (BSJS) of the Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), in collaboration with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), recently conducted its 10th cybercrime awareness briefing for the bank’s frontline staff, according to a press release from the RBPF.
A total of 70 staff attended the session, titled ‘Latest Cybercrime Trends and How to Identify Victims’, which was delivered by Chief Inspector Adinin bin Haji Ahmad at the Executive Lounge of the BIBD Headquarters.
The briefing underscored the vital role of frontline staff as the first line of defence in detecting potential scam victims by recognising warning signs such as suspicious customer behaviour, unusual banking transactions and inconsistent explanations, helping to prevent financial losses.
The session reflects the RBPF’s ongoing commitment, through the Cybercrime Investigation Unit, and its continued collaboration with BIBD to strengthen efforts in combating cybercrime and enhancing public awareness.
Members of the public who suspect fraudulent activity or believe they have fallen victim to a cybercrime are urged to contact the Anti-Scam Helpline at 16993 immediately.
