JAKARTA – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI together with Bank Indonesia (BI) strengthen consumer protection education and financial literacy related to security in transactions in the digital era and vigilance against various cyber crime modes.
This effort was realized through a consumer protection and financial literacy talk show entitled ‘Strengthening Customer Protection Against Cybercrime in the Transformation Era’ which was held as part of the BNI wondrX 2026 series at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
The talk show is part of the collaboration between BNI and BI in strengthening the Movement Together with Consumer Protection Education (GEBER PK). The activity targets BNI wondrX 2026 visitors, including students, through a panel discussion that presents speakers from Bank Indonesia and BNI.
Separately, BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that the increase in digital transaction activities needs to be balanced with public understanding of how to maintain data and transaction security.
“Digital transformation provides convenience for people to carry out various financial activities. However, behind this ease there are risks that need to be aware of. Therefore, education and literacy are an important part to help people recognize various cybercrime modes and become smarter in maintaining data security and financial transactions,” said Okki in a written statement.
In the talk show session, Deputy Director of the Payment System and Consumer Protection Surveillance Department of Bank Indonesia, One Yusril Fikar, explained that digital transformation has brought major changes in the way people carry out financial activities.
Various payment system innovations such as QRIS and BI-FAST make transactions more practical, fast, inclusive, and efficient. On the other hand, technological developments are also accompanied by the emergence of various cybercrime modes.
The perpetrator can take advantage of the victim’s technology and psychological aspects through social engineering practices to obtain personal information and access that can be used to commit crimes.
Therefore, the public is reminded to recognize the characteristics of fraud, maintain the confidentiality of personal data and banking information, and not easily trust parties who represent banks or official institutions.
BNI also continues to encourage the public to check the accuracy of information before making decisions, especially when receiving suspicious messages, links, and transaction requests.
According to Okki, this education is also part of BNI’s commitment to supporting openness of information to the public. This is in line with the spirit of a series of activities to welcome the World Right to Know Day which is celebrated every 28 September, by encouraging the public to obtain accurate and relevant information as a basis for making decisions.
Through collaboration with Bank Indonesia, BNI will continue to strengthen consumer protection and digital security literacy so that the public can better understand how to transact safely while being able to recognize various risks amid the rapid development of digital financial services. (ADV)
