SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — A Florida man is facing a federal cyberstalking charge after investigators say he sent threatening messages to several Saratoga County residents.

Anthony Gagnon, 23, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, was arrested Aug. 4, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.

A criminal complaint accuses Gagnon of sending menacing and threatening messages through social media and text messages. Investigators say the messages included references to one victim being kidnapped, along with details about where that person lived and other personal information.

Gagnon made his first court appearance in Orlando on Aug. 4 and was released under conditions.

If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
