While Suisun City is still working through recovery operations following a recent cybersecurity incident, the city announced Thursday that it is extending the upcoming deadline until Wednesday for water service disconnections.
Water disconnect notices mailed last week established Aug. 25 as the payment deadline, with water shut-offs originally scheduled to begin the next day. The city and the Suisun-Solano Water Authority have officially moved that date to Wednesday. This adjustment provides customers with an extra week to address delinquent balances and complete their payments.
The Suisun-Solano Water Authority remains fully compliant with California Senate Bill 998, which authorizes the disconnection of residential water service for accounts that are more than 90 days delinquent.
The city declared a state of emergency Aug. 8 after the cyberattack was detected the morning of Aug. 7, when malicious software compromised city IT systems. Officials shut down the network to contain the incident and preserve evidence for the investigation.
The city has not disclosed whether any data was stolen or whether a ransom was demanded.
The water counter inside Suisun City City Hall remains open to the public during normal business hours to process utility payments and assist residents. As announced previously, a representative from the police department is also available at the water counter this week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to handle vehicle releases, ticket sign-offs and general inquiries while the police department lobby undergoes planned roof renovations.
Public safety services and response remain active. Suisun City police and fire services will continue to respond to calls, and Suisun City dispatchers will continue to take 911 and non-emergency calls through the Solano County Dispatch Center.
The city is working alongside federal, state and regional agencies, including the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and California Office of Emergency Services, to investigate the cybersecurity incident, maintain essential services and restore systems.
