Jaipur, Sep 1 (PTI) The Rajasthan Police will observe September as a public awareness month under the statewide “Cyber Surakshit Rajasthan” campaign to educate people about online fraud and cybercrime, officials said on Tuesday.
The month-long campaign, being organised on the directions of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, will focus on preventive measures and ways to stay safe from cyber fraud, police said.
Additional Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) V K Singh said that superintendent of police-I (R4C) has been appointed state nodal officer for the campaign, while an officer of the additional superintendent of police rank will act as nodal officer in each district.
Senior citizens and pensioners will be among the focus groups during the drive.
Cybercrime officials at police stations will coordinate with the pension department to sensitise pensioners and senior citizens about threats such as “digital arrest” scams, fraudulent investment schemes and other forms of cybercrime.
Awareness programmes will also be organised in schools, colleges and universities in coordination with district collectors and education officials.
These will include lectures, workshops, quizzes, seminars and competitions.
Students will also form human chains at selected places to spread the message of cyber safety.
Singh said that street plays, posters, audio-video messages and cyber awareness stalls will be organised at public places, markets, bus stands, railway and metro stations, religious places and tourist destinations.
“Cyber volunteers, NSS members and NCC cadets will also be involved in the campaign. Runs and bicycle rallies will be organised in coordination with Rajasthan Armed Constabulary units and district sports officers,” he said.
The campaign will also cover rural areas. Police will coordinate with the postal department and Panchayati Raj institutions to organise cyber awareness activities up to the gram panchayat level. PTI SDA PRK
