The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 43-year-old DeLand man who, according to FCSO, failed to update his registered address after being evicted from his Bunnell residence.
According to FCSO, detectives discovered during Operation Offenders: Endgame that Jamie Evans, a registered sexual predator, no longer lived at his registered Bunnell address. An enforcement team went to the residence Aug. 27 to conduct a compliance check, but no one was there. The homeowner told detectives he had evicted Evans on July 31. Evans had last registered the address May 31 and had not registered a new one, FCSO said.
On Aug. 31, detectives were notified that Evans was at the FCSO Detention Administration and Visitation Center attempting to update his registration. Evans told detectives that after his eviction, he had been sneaking back into the Bunnell residence at night without the homeowner’s knowledge but had been staying with his girlfriend in DeLand since Aug. 20, according to FCSO.
Evans was arrested for failure of a sexual predator to report a change in permanent residence. He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and held on $20,000 bond. His arrest brought the total number of arrests connected to Operation Offenders: Endgame to 43, FCSO said.
“I guess he thought he should register after hearing about Operation Offenders: Endgame and that we were looking for him, but that doesn’t change the fact he violated the law by failing to update his address when he was evicted like he was required to do,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.
FCSO said it is still searching for Warren Franklin, a sex offender who allegedly absconded from his registered residence in Palm Coast, and Christopher Raymond, a sex offender who was last known to be living at a Bunnell residence with three other sex offenders.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the FCSO non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
