Over 100 Leading Companies Call for Stronger AI Cyber Defenses

A coalition of more than 100 companies, including leaders like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, CrowdStrike, Okta, and Fortinet, is calling on governments and organizations to strengthen cyber defenses before capable AI systems expand the scale and sophistication of cyberattacks. The group’s open letter argues that there is a limited window to address long-standing weaknesses across digital infrastructure. Hospitals, water treatment facilities and the infrastructure supporting the internet are among the essential services identified as being at risk.

CrowdStrike Raises Outlook as AI Security Demand Drives Growth

CrowdStrike reported record second-quarter results and raised its fiscal 2027 outlook as accelerating enterprise demand for AI security helped drive growth across its Falcon platform. The cybersecurity company generated US$1.47 billion in revenue for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, a 26% increase from US$1.17 billion a year earlier. Annual recurring revenue reached $5.84 billion, up 25% year over year, while net new ARR reached a record $333 million.

WSO2 Launches Self-Managed AI Platform for Regulated Firms

Enterprise integration software provider WSO2 announced the launch of a fully self-managed version of its AI Workspace platform within the WSO2 API Platform, allowing organizations to maintain complete operational control over AI models, agents, access policies, and costs directly from their own infrastructure. The launch comes amid a new study by ManageEngine revealing that 77% of Mexican organizations fear data leaks resulting from employees using unauthorized generative artificial intelligence tools.

Mining’s Digital Shift Expands Cyber Risk Beyond IT

The mining sector has long measured risk in geological terms. Unstable ground, water ingress, and seismic events exemplify this scenario. But today the most disruptive threats arrive through fiber optic cables and satellite links, targeting the digital systems that keep modern mines running.

Between 2023 and 2024, cyberattacks against the global mining and metals industry tripled, according to the Mining and Metals Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (MM-ISAC). The organization documented 30 reported incidents in 2024, up from 10 the prior year. “And those are just the ones we know about,” says Rob Labbe, CEO and CISO in Residence, MM-ISAC. “There is a massive under-reporting in cyber incidents.”
