Now that school is back in session, there are some things drivers, students and parents need to be aware of.
Lieutenant Akilah Lacey with the Pocatello Police Department, says most school zones are labeled and have flashing lights during school designated times.
He says during that time, the zones are 20 miles per hour.
He adds that fines for school zone violations are elevated.
“We’ve got to make sure that we are traveling at safe speeds, the 20-mile-an hour. We will be doing enforcement in the school zones to make sure the kids are safe. Things about the bus. Follow your bus driver’s rules, sitting down and doing those things and just making sure your kids are in contact with you and understanding what is going on,” says Lt. Akilah Lacey, Pocatello Police Department.
