Everett City Hall will be closed on Tuesday due to a “cybersecurity incident,” officials said.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the City of Everett discovered a cybersecurity incident impacting internal network and technology systems. In response, the city began investigating the incident and working to restore the impacted systems, the city said in an announcement.
“Our priority is to ensure the security of our systems and infrastructure while also investigating the full scope of the incident,” said Mayor Robert Van Campen. “Our IT department and the Everett Police Department are working diligently to restore full City operations for residents as quickly as possible.”
Springfield Public Schools to be closed Tuesday after ‘cyber incident’
Everett Public Schools, libraries, police, fire, and public works will all be open Tuesday, the city said. Additionally, online bill payment platforms are still operational.
Springfield Public Schools will also be closed Tuesday due to a “cyber incident” that caused an interruption of services that are “necessary for school operations.”
Essential City Hall workers in Everett will work out of the Connolly Senior Center, the city said.
“We know a City Hall closure creates an inconvenience for our residents, and we appreciate their patience while our team works through this,” Van Campen added.
City officials said they will determine whether or not City Hall can reopen on Wednesday and post all updates online.
