LG Uplus (032640.KS) is launching Home Cam Lite, an entry-level smart home service.

The 5,500-won monthly plan, based on a three-year contract, bundles a home camera, cloud storage, fire insurance and hacking damage coverage, the company said on the 9th.

Users can receive up to 50 million won in compensation for fire damage and up to 2 million won for losses from hacking. Mom Cam Lite, the new camera included in the package, delivers QHD video for clear footage during the day and at night. It also detects people, pets, motion and sound, and can track and record a detected subject.

Users can record continuously for 24 hours on an SD card. Footage can also be stored in 20 gigabytes of cloud storage provided as standard.

LG Uplus said it installed a security chip based on physically unclonable function technology that generates a unique encryption key for each device, and implemented two-step login authentication and video data encryption. The measures are intended to better protect customers’ video information.
