Wausau – The Woodson YMCA has achieved Praesidium Accreditation, a nationally respected recognition awarded to organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to child abuse prevention and the creation of safe environments for youths, the YMCA announced this week.
This accreditation reflects the Woodson YMCA’s ongoing dedication to protecting the children, families, staff and volunteers who participate in its programs each day, the Y said in a news release. The accreditation process evaluates an organization’s policies, procedures, training, screening practices, supervision standards and overall approach to risk management and child safety.
“We pursued Praesidium Accreditation because child protection is an active, deeply ingrained part of our daily culture,” said Abby Tesch, vice president of operations, in the news release. “This rigorous, independent review ensures that our team is trained to the highest national standards and that our facility remains a gold standard for youth safety in the greater Wausau area.”
For families, this accomplishment provides additional reassurance that the YMCA is committed to creating environments where children can learn, grow, build confidence and develop healthy relationships in a safe setting.
