CLINTON TOWNSHIP/WARREN — Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido is inviting students, parents and educators to one of his two upcoming “Straight Talk: Teens, School Safety and the Law” community forums.
The 90-minute sessions will focus on school safety, youth accountability, violence prevention and how to report suspicious behavior. The meetings also will stress the role parents and guardians play when discussing responsible decision-making with their children.

Local law enforcement officials, Lucido and Tonya Goetz, chief of the Macomb County Juvenile Unit, will highlight the legal consequences students could face for making threats of violence, bringing weapons to school, bullying or engaging in other criminal conduct, including acts students may consider innocent such as sexting and sharing explicit images.
“Every student deserves to learn in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and supported,” Lucido said in a prepared statement. “The start of a new school year is the perfect time for our community to come together and discuss how we can prevent problems before they occur. By working together, communicating openly, and understanding the consequences of dangerous behavior, we can help ensure our schools remain safe places to learn and grow.”
Each forum will conclude with a question-and-answer segment to give attendees the opportunity to ask Lucido, Goetz and police officers questions about school safety, the juvenile justice system, prevention efforts and available community resources.
