Islamabad:The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Rawalpindi Circle has dismantled an illegal call centre operating out of Satellite Town’s Commercial Market, arresting 61 suspects involved in an international extortion and loan recovery racket.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding a scheme targeting foreign nationals, an NCCIA team raided the Satellite Town facility and apprehended dozens of operators on the spot. Law enforcement officers seized 71 mobile phones and 155 laptops during the operation. All digital devices and data have been taken into custody for formal forensic examination.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects posed as fake recovery agents to intimidate, threaten, and extort money from victims abroad under the guise of collecting unpaid loans. According to an agency spokesperson, these fraudulent operations inflicted severe mental distress on victims while actively damaging the country’s international standing.
A formal case has been registered against the suspects, and technical analysis of the confiscated equipment remains ongoing. Expressing a firm stance on the operation, NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that the agency maintains a zero-tolerance policy against cybercrime and will continue taking indiscriminate action against illegal call centres and fraudulent networks. He encouraged the public to report cybercrime incidents to the nearest NCCIA circle or via the national cyber helpline at 1799.
