TRG, a portfolio company of Gemspring Capital, has acquired cybersecurity and advisory firm Fentron, expanding the managed services provider’s security capabilities across the enterprise endpoint lifecycle.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Westerville, Ohio-based Fentron will become part of Inversion6, TRG’s dedicated cybersecurity division. The acquisition adds senior engineering talent and capabilities spanning cybersecurity strategy, ransomware preparedness, vulnerability management and incident response.
Fentron provides cybersecurity services to organizations in the financial, manufacturing, government and healthcare sectors. Its offerings include CISO advisory services, enterprise security architecture, ransomware readiness assessments, vulnerability management, incident response preparedness, tabletop exercises and security information and event management, or SIEM, integration.

The transaction is intended to deepen the security component of TRG’s broader managed services platform. The Cleveland-based company manages and secures enterprise endpoints throughout their lifecycle, with services covering procurement, configuration, deployment, repair, asset management and cybersecurity.
By integrating Fentron into Inversion6, TRG is adding specialized security advisory and technical services that can be deployed alongside those existing endpoint management capabilities.
Fentron CEO Josh Fenton said the combination will provide the cybersecurity firm’s employees and customers with access to TRG’s broader resources while maintaining its existing service approach.

TRG operates facilities across North America, Europe and Latin America, providing managed services for companies seeking to outsource portions of their enterprise device and endpoint operations.
The acquisition extends that platform further into cybersecurity at a time when endpoint management and security functions increasingly overlap within enterprise technology environments. Fentron’s expertise in incident preparedness, vulnerability management and security architecture adds capabilities that can be paired with TRG’s existing management of enterprise devices.
Fentron has built its business around both strategic cybersecurity advice and technical implementation. Its CISO advisory services help organizations develop security strategies, while its incident response and ransomware programs focus on preparing companies to manage security events before they occur.
The company also conducts tabletop exercises designed to test organizational responses to potential cyber incidents and provides SIEM integration to help customers centralize and analyze security information.
TRG is backed by Gemspring Capital, a Westport, Connecticut-based private equity firm with $5.1 billion of capital under management. Gemspring provides capital to middle-market companies with up to $2 billion in revenue across sectors including software, technology-enabled services, business services, healthcare, industrial, financial services, consumer services and aerospace and defense.
The Fentron acquisition adds another layer to TRG’s integrated endpoint services strategy, giving its Inversion6 cybersecurity business additional engineering and advisory expertise while providing Fentron with access to a larger global managed services platform.
