Hyderabad: A city-based healthcare technology company, CR Healthcare Services, has allegedly fallen victim to a ransomware attack, with hackers reportedly gaining access to and encrypting sensitive patient data.

The cyberattack is suspected to have occurred on September 29, affecting the company’s digital systems and patient records hosted through its healthcare platform. According to information available, the attackers encrypted a large volume of data containing sensitive medical and personal information.

The compromised data allegedly included patients’ names, photographs, phone numbers, dates of birth, addresses, diagnostic reports, FHIR clinical records and audit reports, among other healthcare-related information.

The attackers have reportedly demanded a ransom of around Rs 8.5 crore in cryptocurrency in exchange for restoring access to the encrypted data.

In a separate communication, the hackers allegedly demanded $100,000 in cryptocurrency within 72 hours, while threatening to publish the stolen information online if the ransom was not paid.
