Justine May’s family raised concerns before SC kids’ deaths | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

“The police have been to my door so much the past month because of him calling them for welfare checks that they just had to yesterday call him and tell him to stop abusing the system,” May wrote. “I had DSS at my door because he called them and, of course, they found absolutely nothing wrong because I am an amazing mom.”

During an early afternoon welfare check on Sept. 29, Charleston County sheriff’s deputies reported that they found two people dead inside the residence. May was arrested and charged with two counts of homicide by child abuse. Authorities still have not publicly identified the victims.

May remains in custody at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. On Sept. 30, she waived her right to a bond hearing.

Outside the bond court, Deacon told The Post and Courier that the “writing was on the wall” that violence would come to May’s children due to her reported declining mental health and the slew of Facebook post ramblings. He also accused DSS of being “useless” in providing aid.

Earlier, on Sept. 9, May posted on social media that Deacon said he would force her to get a mental health evaluation. After the two separated, May and her daughters temporarily stayed at a relative’s home, she wrote. During that period, a family member wrote to May and pointed out that she would go to the pool without bringing her children, leaving them alone inside a room.

“They wake up in the morning and stay in (their room) with soaked diapers until noon,” the loved one wrote in the email. “As hard and heartbreaking it is to admit this to you, the signs of neglect are there.”

The same pair had been messaging via text in late August about May’s state and the safety of her children.

“Justine — help me understand your boundaries, please,” the loved one wrote. “… I haven’t seen the girls since August 14th…”

“The kids are great,” May replied. “The police have now been her way too many times and this is getting old. Respect my space that I asked you for and I will start communicating with you all again.”
