NEWS UPDATE: Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) is strengthening efforts to promote safer schools by encouraging students, parents, teachers, and the public to practice responsible online behavior and immediately report suspicious or alarming messages.
The call came following separate school-related incidents in Antique and Capiz involving online messages that raised security concerns.
Police units promptly coordinated with the concerned schools, parents, local government units, social welfare offices, and other appropriate agencies to assess the incidents, ensure the safety of students and school personnel, and provide necessary interventions.
Regional Director PBGen. Randulf Tuaño reminded students that responsible use of social media and messaging platforms plays an important role in maintaining a safe school environment.
“Social media is already part of the daily lives of our young people. With this comes the responsibility to think carefully before posting, sharing, or forwarding anything that may cause fear or alarm. Words shared online can have consequences regardless of the sender’s intent,” PBGen. Tuaño said. | via Ryan Lesigues
