FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Central Florida man caught with over 16,000 files of child porn has finally been convicted and sentenced, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said the man — identified as Scott Beverst, 64 — was taken into custody earlier this year after detectives intercepted an online download of child porn videos.

The download was tracked to Beverst’s home in Palm Coast, leading to his arrest, deputies added.

“While speaking with detectives, Beverst admitted that he had been viewing child sexual abuse material since 2001 and preferred 11-to-14-year-old girls,” the release reads. “Beverst also agreed to show detectives child sexual abuse material on his laptop.”

While Beverst was initially charged with 10 counts of child porn possession, detectives said they managed to uncover over 16,000 files on his devices containing child porn, leading to another 20 counts.

On Wednesday, Beverst pleaded guilty to the full 30 counts, and a judge sentenced him to 20 years in state prison, the FCSO announced.

As a result, Beverst will also be required to register as a sex offender and will be on sex offender probation for 15 years after his release from prison.

“I said at the time of his arrest that the amount of child sexual abuse material this guy had was sickening, and that wasn’t even the tip of the iceberg of what our detectives ended up finding,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This digusting pervert earned every second of the next two decades he’ll be behind bars, plus being designated as a sex offender for the rest of his life.”
