Security company arrest suspect following veld foot chase

A suspect is in police custody following a theft on a well-known property in Muldersdrift on September 7.

Guardmax Protection Services units were dispatched at around 14:35 after local security received a call about the incident. The security officers located the suspect carrying the stolen items on his back.

“As the units approached the suspect, he dropped the stolen items and fled into a veld along Beyers Naudé Drive,” said Guardmax Protection Services marketing manager Gerrie van Rooyen.

“After a lengthy foot chase, the suspect was chased from different directions and successfully apprehended.”

Van Rooyen said the suspect and stolen items were handed over to police for further investigation.
