Ms Karmy-Jones said that once the incident was over, Brand had behaved as if nothing had happened. He showered, wrote his email address down and left. Some months later, Brand allegedly told Pinheiro that he “had sex with a woman in Bournemouth and that things ‘might have got a little out of hand’”.Giving evidence, Mr Pinheiro told the jury that Brand insisted they “had to leave town immediately” the following day and was “cowering” in the back seat when he heard police sirens on the drive back from Bournemouth. The court heard the woman was extremely disturbed by what had happened but had tried to block it out of her mind. But in the early 2000s she saw Brand on television and had immediately recognised him as the man who had allegedly raped her.She eventually reported the incident to police in September 2023 after media coverage of other sexual allegations made against him.Ms Karmy-Jones said that when Brand was interviewed by police about the incident he accepted he had been at the Labour Party conference in 1999. He said that he had had sexual encounters in countless locations and scenarios, often with people he had just met.Brand had ‘desperate, wild-eyed look’Turning to the second charge on the indictment, the court heard the allegation dated back to 2001 when Brand had started to work in television.Ms Karmy-Jones said: “His celebrity status was growing as, say the prosecution, was his sense of entitlement to have what he wanted whenever he wanted it.”The court heard the alleged victim had bumped into Brand in the reception of MTV’s studios in London and had asked where the lavatories were. The woman had offered to show him, but when they got there he had grabbed her by the forearm and said: “Come in, go on, come in.”The prosecutor told the jury: “He had what she describes as a desperate, wild-eyed look on his face, as he said ‘please, please come in – oh, go on’.“She continued to resist saying, ‘I’m not coming in there, don’t be silly, are you mad – get off me’, and she managed to pull herself away, and to release his grasp.”The court heard that while it was a short incident, the woman had been left “bewildered and shocked” and in 2023, when media reports emerged about other sexual allegations Brand was facing, she reported it to the police.
