Registered sex offender, Robert Taylor, 63, of Indianapolis is charged after allegedly refusing to move away from children.
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man is now charged after allegedly refusing to move away from his residence after it was found to be within 1,000 feet of children.
According to court documents, sexually violent predator, Robert Taylor, was convicted of Rape in 2012 and registered as a sex offender. As a sex offender, Taylor is subject to residency requirements.
On October 23, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office contacted the 63-year-old to notify him he was within 1,000 feet of a center for women and children. Taylor was allegedly advised that he needed to move in September, but had not moved his address yet.
When police advised Taylor to move again, he allegedly said he was not going to relocate “because the sex offender residency restrictions do not apply to him” and that he “doesn’t mind going to prison because everything is free.”
Online court documents say Taylor is being held on a $500 bond.
Taylor has a pretrial conference scheduled for Dec. 10.
