The Cisco Cybersecurity Center at Cybastion will serve as a regional hub for cybersecurity operations, training and workforce development, supporting Côte d’Ivoire and other African countries in protecting their growing digital economies against cyber threats.

Powered by American cybersecurity technology and expertise, the facility is expected to improve the region’s capacity to detect, investigate and respond to cyberattacks while helping governments and institutions build more secure and resilient digital infrastructure.

The center will house a Security Operations Center (SOC) responsible for monitoring digital systems and identifying potential threats. It will also feature a Security Incident Response Team dedicated to investigating and responding to cybersecurity incidents.

Beyond protecting digital infrastructure, the initiative will serve as a regional center of excellence for cybersecurity training and workforce development, helping equip African professionals with the technical skills needed to address increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The launch comes as African countries accelerate digital transformation across government services, banking, telecommunications and other sectors, creating growing demand for stronger cybersecurity systems and a skilled workforce.

The opening ceremony will bring together senior Ivorian government officials, American diplomats and technology industry leaders. Expected participants include Dr. Thierry Wandji, President and CEO of Cybastion; Fran Katsoudas, Executive Vice President and Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer at Cisco; Junaid Munir, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire; and Sean Carver, Senior Adviser at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs.

For Cybastion, the Abidjan facility represents another step in its efforts to support Africa’s digital transformation through investments in cybersecurity, technology infrastructure and professional training.

The American technology company specializes in digital, cybersecurity and infrastructure solutions designed to help African countries develop secure, reliable and resilient digital ecosystems.

Scheduled for Thursday, November 5, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Building 2MI, Rue du Canal, Biétry, Abidjan, the ceremony will formally introduce the regional facility and its role in strengthening cybersecurity cooperation and technical capacity across Africa.

The initiative also highlights the expanding role of American technology companies in supporting Africa’s digital development, with cybersecurity becoming increasingly important to economic growth, investor confidence and the protection of critical infrastructure.
