Cyberbullying can leave a lasting mark, even when the accusations are about things a person has never done. Contestant Nevin recently opened up about the emotional distress he experienced after facing online attacks. Speaking about the experience on the Dance Dhamaka stage, he recalled how deeply it affected him and how he eventually found the strength to stand up for himself.Nevin admitted that he was in a very difficult state of mind when it all happened. “I was extremely down. The thing is, I did not know why I was being targeted for something I had not done. I always used to say that cyberbullying is a serious issue, but it was only after experiencing it myself that I understood how much it can affect a person,” he said.Responding to him, Judge Prayaga Martin encouraged Nevin not to let what happens outside shake his confidence. “You don’t always have to be affected by what is happening outside. If you allow that to happen, you will only end up feeling sad. You should never have doubts about yourself. Be confident. Why should a confident person be affected by such things?” she asked.Nevin then explained how his perspective had changed over time. The experience, he said, made him realise that he should not bow down because of what a few people say. He also recalled how he decided to face the criticism head-on when he entered the grooming section of the platform.”I thought, why should I bow my head because of what two or three people say? To those who threw stones at me, this is me. Look at me; I am still standing here on this floor. Let this be a motivation for everyone,” he said.Nevin also shared his experience as a message of motivation for others facing similar situations. “Many people may try to weaken you. Sometimes, they may throw stones at you, and sometimes, they may accuse you of things you have not done. But if you are right, you should continue to stand strong like this. That’s it,” he said.Nevin shared this experience after delivering a memorable dance performance on the show, turning the moment into an opportunity to speak about cyberbullying and encourage others facing similar situations. Hosted by Shilpa Bala and Noby Marcose, Dance Dhamaka features actors Vineeth and Prayaga Martin and choreographer Jobin Master as judges.
