The Vietnam Digital Financial Security Forum and Exhibition 2026 opened in Ho Chi Minh City on November 6 under the theme “AI and Digital Trust: Building a Security Shield for Vietnam’s Financial Sector”.
The two-day exhibition, running from November 6 to 7, was expected to attract between 10,000 and 20,000 visitors daily. It showcased digital financial security solutions and applications of artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality (XR) and robotics across banking, securities, insurance and financial technology.
Colonel Nguyen Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention, said emerging technologies such as AI, big data, cloud computing and blockchain offered significant opportunities to improve financial services but also created increasingly complex security challenges.
According to Mr. Son, the State Bank of Vietnam’s monitoring system has connected with nearly 100 financial institutions and identified more than 668,000 bank accounts, e-wallets and payment intermediary accounts showing signs of legal violations.
Banks have also issued millions of alerts and taken action to recover funds, suspend transactions and disrupt money flows linked to cybercrime, involving a total value of trillions of Vietnamese dong (VND).
Mr. Son warned that cybersecurity and cybercrime threats were becoming increasingly serious, with the number of attacks rising.
He outlined three key priorities to strengthen cybersecurity and support digital transformation and financial sector development.
First, cybersecurity must be treated as a prerequisite for digital transformation and digital finance. Security should be built into technology systems from the design and development stages, rather than addressed only after deployment.
Second, coordination mechanisms should be strengthened, with greater information sharing among state management agencies and law enforcement authorities.
Third, Vietnam should step up research, develop mastery of advanced technologies and expand their application. Priorities include using AI to prevent and combat cybercrime, developing quantum cryptography solutions and promoting cybersecurity products created by Vietnamese companies.
