LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) – A man accused of online solicitation of a teenage girl has been arrested in Livingston.
The Livingston Police Department said through an investigation into online child exploitation, they became aware of a man, identified as Randy Newman, 31, of Goodrich, who was attempting to find local underage females to meet up with for sex.
Detectives quickly followed up on the investigation, which led them to Matthews Park on Wednesday afternoon. Once at the park, they located the suspect, who had driven there to meet with a 14-year-old girl.
Newman was arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail. He is charged with online solicitation of a minor.
“This is a sad reminder of the evil that is constantly reaching out to our children from behind a keyboard. Thankfully, this time, we were able to intervene before the worst could happen,” said interim Lieutenant Jack Mueller
