AG Sunday’s Child Predator Section Secures State Prison Sentence for Allegheny County Man who Tried to Meet ‘Child’ for Sexual Abuse | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that an Allegheny County man will serve up to 25½ years in state prison for soliciting sexual contact with who he believed to be a 12-year-old girl.
Lane Alan Simpson, 42, will serve 12¾ to 25½ years in prison, and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, an Allegheny County Judge ordered this week.
The Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section charged Simpson after he attempted to meet a “child” for sexual abuse, following an online conversation. Simpson was actually chatting online with an Office of Attorney General agent.
Simpson pleaded guilty to felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit rape of a child, and related offenses.
“This defendant — a man in his 40s — had every intention of meeting up with a pre-teen child for the purpose of sexual contact,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Such deviant and predatory behavior will not be tolerated, and this sentence assures he will be away from children for many years.”
Simpson, of Pitcairn, agreed to pay cash for sexual acts with the “child,” and went to an agreed-upon location to meet with the “child,” where he was taken into custody.
At the location, Simpson had the agreed-upon cash payment, condoms, and candy (which Simpson was told the “child” would like).
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Angela Raver.
