Google SecOps’ Wendy Willner on Agentic AI’s Custom Responses for Security Ops

Generative AI has accelerated how security teams research threats, create content and respond to alerts. By moving routine tasks to AI, analysts gain time to focus on higher-value work and decision-making. The next wave is agentic AI, which not only accererates workflows, but it also redefines them.

Instead of deterministic automation, agentic AI creates unique response plans for each incident, said Wendy Willner, product manager at Google SecOps.

“Google’s vision is a security operations center, or SOC, that has custom agents or agents with the specific capabilities around every aspect, and those agents all work together to create a unified experience,” Willner said. “AI will create a custom plan and we’ll solve that problem potentially with higher fidelity because it can be customized.”

She said transparency and explainability are critical, with users able to see, understand and control every action the agents take.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at the Cybersecurity Implications of AI virtual summit, Willner also discussed:

  • How agentic AI differs from traditional automation;
  • Preparing data and teams for AI-driven security;

Willner has nearly a decade of experience in product management and uses a programmatic and a pragmatic approach to solving customer’s needs at scale. She previously held senior roles in SentinelOne, IBM and Boeing.
