Cato Networks CEO Shlomo Kramer on AI Hype, Cybersecurity Gaps and Platformization
Artificial intelligence promises a transformation beyond past technological revolution, but enterprise returns have not kept pace with aggressive spending.

Shlomo Kramer, co-founder and CEO of Cato Networks, compared the current AI hype cycle to earlier technology bubbles, where long-term transformation followed short-term overvaluation. “We are going to see the efficiency that will fund the spending, but the spending versus efficiency is not at the right ratio right now. Something needs to be fixed.”
Security concerns have further complicated AI adoption. Organizations have pushed AI as a strategic priority while employees have driven grassroots adoption for productivity gains. CISOs “don’t have more budgets, and suddenly they have this very complicated new challenge,” Kramer said. “So absolutely, [AI security] is the number one priority.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSAC Conference 2026, Kramer also discussed:
- How organizations can evaluate whether AI security solutions are delivering real value beyond the hype;
- Why a platform-first cybersecurity strategy fares better than acquisition-led models;
- How Cato evaluates the integration potential and strategic fit of M&A targets.
