Law enforcement in Limestone County have arrested an Alabama man who is accused of offering cash in exchange for sexual contact with someone he believed to be a child.

Hayel Fadhlesaleh Hasson, 52, of Hoover, was arrested Saturday by investigators in Athens, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Last month, Hasson initiated contact on social media with what he believed to be a male juvenile. The account was operated by a Limestone County Sheriff’s Office investigator,” the office said in a statement Saturday.

Hasson agreed to travel to Limestone County from Hoover, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody when he arrived in Athens for the meeting. He has been charged with electronic solicitation of a child, human trafficking and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

“These investigations take time, patience, and dedication. I’m proud of our investigators’ work in making this arrest. Their commitment to protecting children and holding predators accountable is unwavering,” said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin.

Hasson is being held at the Limestone County Detention Center.
