Alleged sexual predator arrested after Valley HS incidents | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

PHOENIX – An alleged sexual predator was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having sexual contact with a West Valley high school student and other offenses, authorities said.

Michael Armijo, 26, also is suspected of exposing himself at least twice, including once in the Canyon View High School parking lot on May 15, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

Two female students reported the parking lot incident to the school resource officer (SRO) the next day, providing suspect and vehicle descriptions.

The SRO spotted a car matching the description as it was leaving the parking lot just before 8 a.m. Wednesday and pulled it over.

The driver told the SRO he was dropping off a student and denied exposing himself. The SRO issued a trespass notice and cited the driver for a suspended license.

The SRO spoke to the student the driver mentioned, a 15-year-old girl, and she said a man offered her a ride home on May 9. She said he took her to the campus parking lot and had sexual contact with her before taking her home.

What did investigators learn about alleged sexual predator?

Investigators determined the suspect had no connection to the school and also linked him to an April indecent exposure incident near a grocery store at Jackrabbit Trail and Indian School Road, police said.

Armijo was taken into custody Thursday morning during a traffic stop near his home in Buckeye.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of child sex trafficking, luring a minor and sexual conduct with a minor, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
