Jersey Shore, Pa. — A 24-year-old Jersey Shore man was caught by a local vigilante pretending to be a 14-year-old girl online, police say.
Bobby Gene George was filmed on Dec. 19 as he was confronted by the man pretending to be a minor outside an apartment in the 1200 block of Allegheny Street. George was identified by his Meet 24 profile picture. He also used his real name in the app.
According to the affidavit, George gave his age earlier in conversations with the man pretending to be a child. George believed the imposter was a 14-year-old child, the witness reported to police.
George asked the decoy if she was busy with school work and about getting together. George typed, “would you like to cuddle with me?” in the chat. The questions allegedly progressed to more sexual requests, such as asking to kiss the supposed 14-year-old’s breasts.
George allegedly sent the decoy pictures of his genitals and asked more detailed questions about sexual intercourse. He said his home was in Jersey Shore and sent Google street view images of the building.
The vigilante went to the apartment and confronted George, who denied knowing the age of the person online. After more questioning, George admitted to knowing the age of the child he believed he was messaging. All the recordings were turned over to investigators.
George is being charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, and criminal use of a communication facility. Judge Denise Dieter set bail at $200,000 monetary during a preliminary arraignment last week.
