Anseong Mayor Kim Bo-ra took part in a child traffic safety campaign as her first official event of the ninth popularly elected term, declaring that citizen safety would be the top priority of her administration. She presented the construction of a smart safety city using artificial intelligence (AI) and big data as a new administrative goal, while also continuing communication with residents through community visits and an inauguration ceremony.
The city of Anseong said Monday that Kim visited Baekseong Elementary School within the district that morning to join the child traffic safety campaign. Participating in the campaign were the police station, the Green Mothers Association, the Model Drivers Association, school officials, and public officials.
Participants helped students use crosswalks safely during the morning commute and urged drivers to slow down, come to a complete stop within child protection zones, and comply with traffic laws. Kim also made eye contact with students one by one to exchange greetings and personally checked on the safety of their commute to school, starting the first step of the ninth term at a site closest to citizens’ daily lives.
“I find it all the more meaningful to begin the ninth popularly elected term with the work of protecting citizens’ safety, and among them, the safety of our children,” Kim said. “Creating an environment where children can attend school with peace of mind is the most fundamental duty of administration.”
She stressed, “In line with the AI era, Anseong will do its best to build a smart safety city by introducing a big data-based proactive response system across all fields, including not only everyday safety but also traffic and disasters.”
Starting with the traffic safety campaign, Kim visited local community sites in the afternoon to listen to residents’ opinions and review pending issues. She is scheduled to hold the ninth term inauguration ceremony at 6:50 p.m. at the grass plaza next to Ayang Library, sharing her administrative vision and directions for regional development with citizens and marking the start of her new term.
Anseong plans to make citizen safety and life-oriented policies the top values of its administration in the ninth term as well, strengthening its safety management system using advanced technology while expanding on-site communication with citizens to raise sustainable urban competitiveness.
