Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin has filed a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord.
Griffin accuses the companies of misleading parents about child safety and failing to protect young users from online predators.
The suit alleges the platforms knowingly allowed conditions that facilitated grooming and exploitation, prioritizing corporate profits over child safety.
According to the lawsuit, both companies were well aware of safety vulnerabilities on their platforms but failed to implement meaningful changes.
“And what’s interesting is you may think that this is Roblox and Discord see some of these problems as a result of a flaw in their product. They see it as a feature. They’ve known about this, and they have had every opportunity to change it, to stop it, to do something about it, and they have refused to do that. Why? Because they’re making a lot of money. That’s why,” Griffin said.
Griffin is seeking monetary damages, injunctive relief, and the return of profits allegedly earned through deceptive practices.
