Attorney General Labrador Secures Conviction of Caldwell Child Predator
BOISE — Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced the conviction of Jacob Taylor, 43, of Caldwell, who possessed hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material. Taylor was convicted of three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material and sentenced by Senior District Judge Michael Reardon to 15 years in prison with eligibility for parole after four years on July 28, 2025. Taylor must register as a sex offender under Idaho law.
“Every arrest and conviction our team gets in these deeply disturbing cases helps make Idaho communities safer,” said Attorney General Labrador. “I’m proud of the continued work by our ICAC investigators, prosecutors, and local law enforcement partners across the state who help in our mission to protect Idaho families and hold these criminals accountable.”
The case began in fall 2024 when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received a CyberTip that an account linked to Taylor had uploaded approximately 68 files containing child sexual abuse material. ICAC investigators executed a search warrant at Taylor’s residence on February 5, 2025.
Forensic examiners from the Attorney General’s Office discovered over 300 files of child sexual abuse material organized into folders on Taylor’s devices.
Investigator Lauren Lane with the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit led the investigation alongside her K-9 partner, Badger. The ICAC Unit was assisted by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Nampa Police Department, Idaho State Police, Boise Police Department, Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Deputy Attorney General James Haws prosecuted the case.
