Publisher Activision, in collaboration with Iron Galaxy, has released an urgent server playlist update for the recently re-released versions of the shooter. Call of Duty Black Ops on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. This update is being positioned by the developers as the first step in combating the massive wave of hacker attacks that swept the multiplayer immediately after the ports’ release. The main problem was a dangerous XP hack, which allowed cheaters to drive legitimate players’ stats into the negative, completely blocking them from multiplayer due to them falling below level 1.
As part of an emergency response, the team temporarily disabled and updated a popular playlist called Domination, which was being used by attackers to distribute malicious code. Players who had already been affected by the hackers’ actions and had received negative experience points were forcibly reset to level 20, allowing them to regain access to online matches and resume leveling. The implemented changes were applied directly to the servers, so users did not need to download a large client patch.
Company representatives stated that they will continue to monitor the situation and will release additional security measures to minimize vulnerabilities in the future. The developers did not specify the format of upcoming patches, but assured the community of their intention to maintain the stability of the ports’ network infrastructure. Co-op multiplayer between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players has also been officially confirmed for the re-releases.
