BOISE COUNTY, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise County authorities are investigating allegations raised by a civilian group that says it uncovered evidence of child sex crimes in Horseshoe Bend.
The Boise County Sheriff’s Office said it has been made aware of the civilian “Pred Poacher” group, which it said appears to act similarly to the television show “To Catch a Predator,” and that the group was in Horseshoe Bend in Boise County. The sheriff’s office said the group has stated on social media that it has evidence of Child Sexual Abuse Material and Solicitation of a Minor, which are violations of Idaho law, and that the group said the alleged conduct occurred in Horseshoe Bend.
The sheriff’s office said that because of the nature of the allegations and the evidence required to establish probable cause for a charging decision or an arrest, due process requires the evidence to be neutrally analyzed. The sheriff’s office said the incident occurred Friday night, June 12, 2026, and that not all evidence has been provided to or reviewed by the sheriff’s office or the Boise County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said reviewing evidence takes time because it must be legally obtained and admissible under Idaho law and comply with the Idaho Rules of Evidence. The sheriff’s office said it will continue investigating the offenses within the confines of its limited resources “to keep the Boise County community safe.”
